Yeah, I'm itching to use it and still not found the way as well :(

Any fix for it? really appreciated!
You need to put to PlugIns folder of FakeSMC.
Geraldo wrote: Its funny. I don't have any problems with these freezes at all.
I have freezes only in a very high load situation on Graphics - when I run at the same time Skype, Trillian, uTorrent, editing text in Pages with graphics, watch 1080p video on YouTube and browse a site which uses Safari's hardware openGL acceleration (CSS WebKitTransform *). It's a rather rare situation, but it's real.

You need to put to PlugIns folder of FakeSMC.
That error is gone after I move it to PlugIns folder of FakeSMC but some other error messages appears as:

Hey ho,

good to see you guys working on improvements. I finally would the reason for my not working bluetooth. I deactivated it in Access Connections last time I booted to windows. So went the, activated, changed hard drives and that was it. =)

jzhang18, thanks for the info and please hold on!
I'm working on a modified version of my X61T package that will get rid of graphics and SMC errors. Hopefully will release it soon.

Geraldo, jzhang18, guys
How does SSD feel itself on Lion and X61? Does it get approved by BIOS? Any side issues?
I'm thinking about buying an SSD, but I heard about many problems with older Lenovo hardware....

Hey,

Can only talk about performance gain under Windows xp since i never tried mac os with the old hdd. It cut boot time by half and also over all system performance was much better. I didnt have any bios problems at all. Old one out Samsung in and that was it. Mac os recognizes the drive as an ssd. You need to activate trim support via terminal though. Also the x61 becomes very quiet of course. Only thing I still have problems with is sleep. But that might also be caused by my not jet properly installed sierra wwan card. Will edit drivers next week in order to fix that and than post results.

Cheers

I am using intel and Kingston SSD. Both are SATA II, x61 only uses SATA I, but I did not encounter any problem, BIOS recognized both correctly.
Booting is faster with SSD vs 7200rpm HD (cut half of the time), SSD is quiet, iStat Menus v3 shows my Kingston SSD is 33 ℃ under normal use.
Trim needs to be enabled manually with this instruction:
http://digitaldj.net/2011/07/21/trim-enabler-for-lion/
I also tested with Trim Enabler v1.2, it works. but it seems better using above manual method.

I have no sleep and CMOS reset issue after I patched AppleRTC.kext from instruction of Anastasius's 1st post.

Most heavy duty practical test is playing StarCraft II on x61 for a few of hours . almost no crash with Lion 10.7.2 (but randomly crashes under Snow Leopard 10.6.8 )
Heavy duty CPU test is using Prime95 for MAC (http://mersenne.org/freesoft/), I only tested 1 hour, nothing is wrong with Lion 10.7.2 (T8300, 8GB RAM)

Install the middleton bios and you will have full sata2 speed. I'm running an intel postville g2 with some filesystem optimizations and haven't seen any problems/bottlenecks with or without trim support so far. But I'm a triple booter (W7/Linux/OSX) so I can't really tell if it makes a huge difference to run an ssd without trim on a mac-only system.

Performance makes a huge difference with sata2, even if some people claim you wouldn't notice it.

Code: Select all

What I didn't test yet
- SD card drivers
SD card driver works under Lion 10.7.2, with some minor flaws
download the driver from http://forum.voodooprojects.org/index.php?topic=972.0
unzip VoodooSDHC_32or64.kext.zip, install it with KextBeast, then run Kext Utility to refresh system cache.
some minor issues noticed as:
Booting Lion with SD card inserted, I saw 2 mounted volumes of SD card. ejecting only one volume might crash OS. better to eject them all.
Sometime, it might slow down shutdown process with SD inside card reader (booting seems OK).
I tested 150x 4GB SD card and 133x 4GB SDHC, Class-6 16GB SDHC -- 3 cards
All work, I put AVCHD MTS video files on SD card, play it with VLC or Roxio Video Palyer, speed is acceptable! (some frames dropped, but OK, both cores of my T8300 went 98%, MTS file needs heavy decompression for every video frame during playback).

Hey guys,

I got my sierra MC8775 3G Module working. Its not that hard to do.

-Install the card in the mini pcie slot
-Go to the sierra website and download drivers for the sierra AirCard 880E (compatible to the mc 8775)
-Install those and reboot
-Go to /s/l/e and search for sierra kexts and copy all three kexts to desktop
-uninstall the driver (sierra watcher, all you need is the kexts)
-check the device-id in system profile of the card (recognized as usb mini card)
-covert device ids from hex into decimal numbers (ask google)
-instert decimals into plist files of the sierra kexts in the mc8775 section (plist is found in the content folders in the kext files)
-copy kexts back to /s/l/e and replace existing ones
-repair permissions via kext utility and reboot

Now the device should be recognized correctly in the network section. Now find out the apn for your provider. It took me
some time to find the right configuration but now it works very well.

I tried to fix brightness with the custom x3100 driver which tcone linked to. All it did was wrecking my system. Any other ideas how to fix brightness controls? Also I cant deactivate bluetooth. How do I tackle that?

Thanks!

EDIT: Heres a link to the edited kexts for sierra mc8775.

Hey guys,

Im using my x61 now every day and its doing a great job. But theres still no sleep. Also I found out, that C-States are not working. Im using all of Anastasius files (Extra Folder and SLE) but no luck.

When I try to put the X61 to sleep, the Moon turns on&off for about 3-5 Sekonds. Then a beep occurs and it powers off. Then waking up it just reboots. Chamaleon is stating an error "Header read size 200 - Incorrect Image Signature" and thats it.
Do you have any Ideas?

Thanks!

Hey,

I also use an x61. I installed 10.7.0 via a pendrive. Then installed Anastasius /S/L/E vis kext utility added the extra folder and repaired permissons. Then the combo update to 10.7.2. Everything except sleep and c-States. Must be rather because of my different hard drive, the sierra card oder wlan card or the extra ram. But I don't have any clue where to start.

Winter wishes,

I use iATKO 10.7.2 to install.
I tested a few of installation methods on my x61, include above DVD.
But I feel the best installation is --
choose UniBeast and 8GB USB flash drive to create bootable Lion flash drive. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2011/10/ ... using.html.
Do not forget to choose "Laptop Support" when creating it. so that during installaton, x61 keyboard is working for you!!!

After it finish installation, install MultiBeast Lion Edition. http://tonymacx86.blogspot.com/2010/02/ ... ation.html
Choose "UserDSDT install" (do not forget to copy x61 DSDT file to your desktop), choose "FakeSMC", "32-bit Apple Boot Screen", "Chimera v1.6" as boot loader.

After installation, do not reboot, just copy all necessary Kexts file from first post into E/E and S/L/E.
using Kext Utility to repair the permission. using smbios.plist I posted in this thread.

Then reboot. a fully working x61 should be there for you!

Okay...

I got C-States working after a clean install. Also found out that 1) the pin to tape is not the marked pin on top of the card, but the one undr it. 2) I only get an answer using the old terminal command for c-states stated in the X61 SL Thread, the new one out of this thread does not work for me. If c-states wouldn't work my cpu temperature should be round about 71C° which they aren't and my machine runs quite n cool so I guess they are working.

Everything is in place now exempt two thing. 1) Sleep 2) brightness control

1) sleep: To get it work I tried this http://forge.voodooprojects.org/p/chameleon/issues/133/ creating a new boot file, deactivating secure virtual memory via Terminal and unse pmset hibernate mode 25. Result is, that I get a resume screen right after chameleon and the an error message "Wake Kernel!" booting with -nowake -wake=yes or -forcewake=yes didn't do any difference. I also checked my memory and did an clean install. I have no idea whats going wrong here. Im happy for any help.

2) brightness control: I read here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index. ... opic=87574 that there is a fix to get brightness control working properly. Perhaps you Anastasius could have a look into this and include it in your files?

Thanks a lot!

It wooooooorks!

I changed bios config (PCI to auto, extended memory check on boot), disabled motion sensor, also installed sleep enabler and set hibernatemode to 0 and now out of the sudden sleep works.

All files are included in Anastasius' first post. He has done an amazing job in this project!
Just download his 2 zip files, one includes /Extra files(DSDT file is inside). one includes /System/Library/Extensions Kext files.
you won't miss it.

Re: Lion Mac OS X 10.7 on Thinkpad X61

Gentlemen, glad to hear Lion is up and working on the x61.

So I've got an old version of iatkos v7 installed on my x61 and thought getting L2 would be a walk in the park. (Man was I wrong :P) When installing from USB flash (via a variety of methods) the furthest I manage to get is right before the welcome screen but then my machine reboots. Since I have an OSX install on the same system, is it possible to simply "upgrade" or at least get the bootloader to properly launch the L2 install without rebooting?

Thanks guys

I didn't use a patched driver, I took the 10.6.8 driver and patched it myself. It's not a perfect solution and untested on sxga+ (but I could do if I find some time). Brightness is still a bit uneven on xga, worse than on 10.6, but better than without.

This was the only working solution I found for my sxga+ screens for full 1400x1050 support with brightness controll in snow leopard, so I tried this on lion.
I could upload a bash-script snippet or different patched versions of the framebuffer kext the next days if you like to test that (or we could meet at the 28c3 in Berlin).

Too bad this bytecode patch doesn't work with the lion driver and I guess the sl driver is not 100% compatible. :|

I'm hoping somebody will be able to point me in the right direction with my problems here.

I've managed to get 10.7.2 running on my x61s using the guide but I'm having a couple of problems:

1. no sound
I do see something in the sound control panel but it says 'rear spdif' or something and i get no sound out of the speakers or the headphone socket. I've followed a number of different solutions for this one and got myself nowhere.

2. I can only boot with GraphicsEnabler=No
Have I done soemthing wrong to end up like this?

3. shutdown/reboot dont seem to work.
machine seems to hang up while trying to power cycle.

I'm new to all this hackintosh stuff so am still figuring it all out. Any help anyone can offer will be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I've read some posts about it being possible (check out the earlier ones from tcone).
