After updating the driver and AC, I couldn't use wireless card. I rolled back to previous version after trying both xp roll back and manually uninstalling/reinstalling drvs. I was able to access my home wireless card so I thought that was it. Than I realized I couldn't access any other wireless networks. I can create it in AC but cannot connect.
I wonder if IBM did any qa on this driver update? wonder if the workers are getting distracted with being part of Lenovo?

Just today I had to install both the latest Intel bg driver and IBM Access Connections, HotKey software... because my T42 with Intel 2200 wifi would not work and asked for the updated software. I used another machine with broadband connection to download it all, installed the IBM software installer and let that take care of the other installs. Did that in steps (first the intel driver, which seemed to work but the old Access Conn. did not work with it, then also Access Connections and the hotkey software). Meanwhile the software installer found three or four other possible updates that were already available on my T42 but had not yet been installed. So I had it install these too.
After all that, and a few obligatory reboots, the whole thing simply worked without any fiddling, recognized the wifi network at the friends where I was staying at the time (I don't have wifi myself, nor ADSL), and logged in.
Note that the wifi network in question was not encrypted, and that IBM advises some additional fiddling with Windows patches (de-installing them in fact!) when you want to log into an encrypted connection.
I use Win XP SP1, not SP2. Maybe some of the problems people experience have to do with SP2 ?

T42 (14"/250GB/1.5GB; NL; with minidock); R51 (15" flexview/40GB/1 GB). X31 (12"/320GB/1GB); T42 (14"/60GB/1GB; FR)
I ran into this same problem today after running Thinkpad Software Installer and updating everything.
Here is how I finally resolved the issue:
1) Let Software Installer update everything it possibly can
2) Uninstall IBM Access Connections and reboot
3) Reinstall IBM Access Connections and reboot
4) Click here and download the new Intel 2200BG driver
5) Install driver and reboot
6) Enjoy!

I updated the package manually. I tried to use the Software Installer to install the On-Screen update (part of the HotKeys install), but it didn't find the updated one online, so I did that manually also.
I dont install the extra stuff with the driver. I'd rather have Windows handle all of that instead of the Intel apps.

ya.. the software installer used to fail when trying to install the new BG drivers.. i ran software installer and let it update everything except for the 2200bg, then restarted, then let it download and install the 2200bg drivers and it suceeded! and it works!
