Thank You

Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
Would such a whitelist BIOS allow the use of a Gobi 2000 in a X301? I'd love to get a copy if possible. (And with 3.15, is there a difference between the 32-bit BIOS and the 64-bit BIOS?)
Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
The real 3.15 BIOS from Lenovo comes in several versions:
1-A bootable CD .iso that flashes from DOS and so doesn’t care what, if any, OS is running
2-Two versions that work within Windows – a 64bit & a 32bit and must match your OS install
The only modded 3.15 BIOS I’ve seen that would allow your Gobi to run is the Windows version.
It has been reported as working but have never tried it myself. It has both 32 & 64bit installers (Post# 4192).

Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
I flashed mine and it worked. I tried a centrino n6300 wireless card to confirm
Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
Do both wireless on/off switches work after that? I mean the hardware one on the back, and the software one "Fn+F5".
Also, did you install it in the half size minipcie slot, or did you use the bracket adapter to install it in the full size slot?
Just ordered a 6300 adapter (lenovo approved) and will try it soon

Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
Since my post above I have used the modded BIOS and, in general, it works fine.
The Fn+F5 menu works as it should with WiFi, BT and WWAN.
The switch works fine with WiFi and BT but seems to disable the WWAN radio – and requires a restart.
The WWAN card is a whitelisted Lenovo card and so worked fine without the BIOS mod but I can’t say I ever tested it with the switch before applying the new BIOS.
Hope your experience with the 6300 is better than mine – there was no measurable improvement over the 5300.

Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
The FN short cuts are not linked to the BIOS being modified or not. It depends on whether you have installed one particular Lenovo program. I think it's "Power Manager".

Re: X301 Whitelist Bios 3.15
Yes of course, what I wanted to say is that the shortcut may or may not work because there are subtle differences between different cards, and some require "being talked to differently" to access their ON/OFF functions and so on. That is, "Power manager" or whatever may not support turning on/off a specific card model, heck, it may not even recognize it as a wireless cardu751920 wrote:The FN short cuts are not linked to the BIOS being modified or not.
