ThinkWiki.org down?

#1 Post by TRS-80 » Tue May 06, 2014 4:24 pm

For the last several months, ThinkWiki.org has been down for me (I keep getting 504 Gateway Timeout errors). The only way I can reach it is through the Internet Archive / Wayback Machine (web.archive.org). Is anyone else having this problem?

I'm loading it just fine.

Sounds like there's some ISP routing or firewall issue going on in the WAN, something likely out of your control. I'd call my ISP and see if they might have any idea what might be going on...

Oh yeah- that might be a good idea. Try using different browsers, if you haven't already. Although if it's happening from different computers, that might not even be worth a try.

Wow, thanks for super fast responses guys.

Yeah, my "ISP" in this case is my 4G mobile hotspot on my Android phone. Carrier is MetroPCS. You have to set the user agent to something non-PC (with User Agent Switcher in FF 28.0 mine is set to Linux desktop) in order to pass http/www traffic. It works everywhere else, just not at that site. Maybe they are racist against Linux? lol I doubt it though, as a lot of older ThinkPads I know run Linux. I guess it must be my "ISP" (mobile carrier, i.e., MetroPCS).

IE10 didn't load the TP Fan Control site once.
Refused to, it was giving a 'http not found' error.
Next week I used a different machine and internet browser, worked fine, loaded Firefox on the IE10 lappy and it loaded fine!
