Obscure Thinkpad models
Obscure Thinkpad models
I keep running into Thinkpads for sale on eBay with model numbers that don't exist in the psref. Last two that I saw:
Thinkpad X220 - NYG4CUK
Thinkpad X220 - 4291ZCN
Nowhere to be found in the psref file, but genuine product ids displayed in bios screenshots. What's the deal with these models? Is there a way to investigate the exact specs of these machines?
Thank you!

Re: Obscure Thinkpad models
Well, googling them does return specs. Ensuring they're accurate is a different story, though.
Re: Obscure Thinkpad models
4291-ZCN must be a custom model.
NYG4CUK is a UK-based 4291-4CG as far as I understand their obscure dual numbering model for international pre-configured units.

Re: Obscure Thinkpad models
Impossible to know if any of these have the IPS screen, then.
Re: Obscure Thinkpad models
The 4CG has IPS (it appears in the Western-European PSREF). For the other one - it is difficult to find out indeed.

Re: Obscure Thinkpad models
I am able to find the second model (you must use a seperator and enter it like this: 4291-ZCN) via the Lenovo MTM-lookup:harryK wrote:Thinkpad X220 - NYG4CUK

- linked to from this post. If you want to check whether the LCD is IPS or not, then try get the full model-, type- and serial-number, and then make a parts lokup... see the thread Why does Lenovo's "Parts Lookup" site not (always) work?? and use the link in this post.ThinkPad X220 (4291-ZCN)

...and part numbers.
I came across an LCD screen for the X220 with FRU 93P5669. In the HMM this part number is described as "LCD panel, 12.5-in. HD LED backlight" as opposed to "LCD panel, 12.5-in. WXGA, LED backlight" and "LCD panel, 12.5-in. HD LED backlight premium", which have different FRUs. I understand that "premium" stands for high density IPS, while WXGA is the normal TN 1366x768 screen.
This leaves me with the question of what on earth is 93P5669 going to be. What resolution should I expect? What kind of panel is this? Does "HD" even mean anything in Lenovo speak?
Thank you.

Re: Obscure Thinkpad models...
Whether IPS or not, X220 was only available in HD = 1366x768, no other resolution was offered on these machines.harryK wrote: This leaves me with the question of what on earth is 93P5669 going to be.
