The "ThinkPad" aroma / scent

Just thought I'd bring this up; I noticed some thinkpads have a very consistent and discreet scent to them (sort of a polymer / oily smell). I've used a lot of laptops and different brands... but never have I come across a type of laptop that had such a consistent and reoccurring smell.

Has anyone else besides myself noticed this?

I've noticed the smell since I got my X61T years ago.
Most of them have the same odor, my guess is the heatsink?
Some of the older plastic lid machines have a different odor.
I've been lucky to obtain a putrid scented one yet!
