Energy Star means nothing!!
I don't know if anyone noticed but I find it funny that the W700 came with an energy star logo. I mean It had a QX9300, FX3700M, 400nit dual CCFL display, two spinning hard drives, a DVD drive, and sometimes another display and it is still considered Energy Star?

Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Efficient at using tons of power.
I'd be interested in your "powertop" readings

Efficient at using tons of power.
I'd be interested in your "powertop" readings. It was 35W idling(dim brightness) and 55W browsing(full brightness). My T430 maxed around 75W. Well I'm only going to get a few seconds of run time when my battery only has 3.5Wh and that is not a mistake for 35Wh. 3.5Wh. 4.5% health. I'm not buying a new battery for it. I'm going to put on unigine heaven and see what an FX3700M and Q9000 will do. Let the hellraising begin!

Re: Energy Star means nothing!!
Oh I'd never try this at home. I'm letting someone else pay for my power!
75W and thats ONLY the CPU. Just wait and see when we get the Quadro involved!

Re: Energy Star means nothing!!
Ok Unigine Heaven ultra settings + HeavyLoad + Full Brightness = *drum roll* 123W. Yeah you heard me right...123W. This darn laptop uses more energy than my 70" TV. Also temps are a quite respectable 80 degrees on the CPU and 90 degrees on the GPU after 3 minutes.TheForgottenKing wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 9:56 pmHere's to hoping my soon-to-be W701ds will be betterThinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 9:54 pm

Edit...full battery life came out to....31 seconds

Well, the original battery is 85Wh so this isn't too great of a signThinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 07, 2019 10:19 pmOk Unigine Heaven ultra settings + HeavyLoad + Full Brightness = *drum roll* 123W. Re: Energy Star means nothing!!
It's still around what my eGPU uses itself
And a 1/5 of what a decent desktop eats these days
I just noticed that the precision 7520 I've got from my job does NOT have EergyStar rating.
