x220 AC WIFI that supports on/off switch and Led?
Hi,
I jsut got a X220 and I upgraded the 6205 wifi to intel 8260 from Aliexpress (the version without BT). It works fine but hardware on/off switch and LED indicator are non-functional. I would like to get a wifi AC card that supports both switch and led. Anyone had luck with that?
Thanks

1littlepig,
Hello. I am considering upgrading my 6205 and putting the 8260 card in my x220.
What operating system do you use ? Windows 10 ? Linux ?
Did you have to tape over or remove pin 51 or anything like that.
Did you find a solution to the hardware on/off switch and led light ?
Sorry I have only questions for you, but no answers.
Thank You

Install a BIOS with wifi-whitelist removed, such as listed here in BIOS/FIRMWARE: http://x220.mcdonnelltech.com/resources/
Then also try Intel AC-7260
Then also try Intel AC-7260

Re: x220 AC WIFI that supports on/off switch and Led?
Hey guys,
I did some research and I found out that LED and On/Off switch are related to pins on the wireless card and mine lacks those connections. I didn't have to tape pin 51 because apparently I bought a WiFi card without BT (I did tape it just for testing, also the seller confirmed I'm an idiot who didn't carefully read the description). To remedy that i purchased a separate BT 4.0 card. I upgraded to 16GB DDR 1600, Samsung Evo SSD 500gb and a 3G card. Now I don't mind that the on/off switch is not working for wifi because it works for 3G. I usually need WiFi all the time and 3G only when needed so it nice having it switched off and having a piece of mind as I do not have an unlimited plan for broadband. Basically the only thing not working is the WiFi LED indicator (it's fine I guess but it triggers my OCD
Obviously I flashed a custom rom with the whitelist/blacklist nonsense removed. I also removed ME with me_cleaner.
Finally I am a happy x220 user running Pop!OS Linux 18.04 LTS

Re: x220 AC WIFI that supports on/off switch and Led?
I put an Atheros AR5b93 on my x220t (to get OSX compatibility) and works both the side switch and the light.
This isn't the best card, but I have it from and old notebook and works.
