T60 1951-A47: really dead or reparable?
Hello,
recently I got T60 (1951-A47), which does not start. When I press power button, display stays black, LED lamps are on, DVD drive rotates very briefly. That's all. I removed RAM modules - no beeps, no reaction.
Is my MoBo dead?
Thanks,
Andrey

Given the lack of beeps, I'd say that it probably is. One thing to try: remove the battery and power cord, press the "power" button and hold it down for 30 seconds, re-insert the power cord and try powering on.
Good luck.

I once had the same issue with a newly bought T61, the problem was the fan, it was dead as in it wouldnt spin at all. the rest of the laptop was in pristine condition and working fine, that is as soon as I replaced the dead fan.
so I would take away the palm rest and the keyboard just to see if the fan spins when pressing the start button, or if it spins easily when blowing air in it.

unfortunately, it looks really dead. I opened already the keyboard - the fan starts to rotate, then stops. Also I noticed that LAN- and WLAN-leds blink very briefly. I also did the "30-seconds"-hint - nothing changed.

Andrey

It does look like you have a dead mobo. I have some spare mobos here in the UK if you are interested in spending a few ££s on it. Complete machines as well...

thanks for the offer, but I would first try to find anything here, in Germany.
