What's the difference between IBM ThinkPad Dock II, Type 2877 and 2631?

2631 is Thinkpad Dock. 2877 is Thinkpad Dock II. For starts, it supports more laptops (T40/R50 series).

If I was to use it with an A31p would there be any difference?
