T41 2.0 CPU shows 1.5 in bios?

As an experiment I upgraded my T41 CPU from a 1.6 Centrino to a Intel Pentium M SL7SM 760 2GHz. The T-41 booted just fine, but did not seem to run any faster, so I checked the BIOS and it showed 1.53GHZ. According to thinkwiki the max speed for T-41 CPU is a 1.7 Centrino, but I had also heard it will take a 2.0. Did I buy the wrong CPU, or is 1.7GHZ the fasted CPU for my PC?

Pentium M 760 is the 533mhz FSB version used in T43, R52, Z60. You want Pentium M 755. There is also Pentium M 765 2.1 ghz, the fastest possible.

Thanks, I should have done more homework. I have a 755 on the way from China; are the 765 2.1 worth 3 times the price of the 755 2.0?

The top-end CPU of each line is generally sold for a much higher price than the actual speed bump actually deserves.

I used to run pm755 2ghz in t40 , it is cheap and worth it.
