T400s keyboard on X200s?
T400s keyboard on X200s?
Is it possible to attach a T400s keyboard to the X200s? At least connector looks te same. How about physical dimensions?
I really prefer the 2-row prefernce keys to 1-row.

Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
Keyboards are supposedly interchangeable between 'regular' T400 and X200.
X200 and X200s use the same keyboards.
BUT: T400 and T400s use different keyboards.
So my guess is: NO, T400s and X200/X200s keyboards are NOT interchangeable.

You know, I don't think that's true. They are all different FRUs, they look different, and if one supposes they are still interchangeable, then I believe that the screw posts are different.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 2:55 amKeyboards are supposedly interchangeable between 'regular' T400 and X200.
But regardless of that - you are right - the T400s keyboard is definitely different.
Now, keyboards may work if plugged in, if the connector is the same, but they would not fit properly in the chassis.

Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
But if the dimensions are within millimeters, I don't see it as an obstacle. I have xx20-series keyboard on my X230 which is attached with 2 sided tapedr_st wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2019 3:45 amYou know, I don't think that's true. Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
Physical dimensions should probably be close enough to work with, maybe with some small modifications. Of course without being properly secured with screws (you may have to physically remove the screw posts), the keyboard may wobble and not provide the same form feedback. But if the large Esc/Delete are more important to you, then, once again, I believe it can work, although I haven't tried.

Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
Looking at pics of the T400s, its keyboard looks to be the same as the T410/420, T510/520, W510/520, and X220 (big Del and Esc keys).

Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
In my experience plugging a W500 keyboard in a T520:
Ultranav buttons are sized differently, the volume-power bar is dimensioned differently, and the Fn key didn't work. You'd best stick with an X200 / X201 (normal, s, Tablet) keyboard.

If you want a T400s keyboard you could try an X220.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
As I said on my previous post, I already have X230 with xx20 series keyboard. Also a T430 with xx20-keyboard.
But this time I'm looking for the best & lightweight machine for traveling purposes which can handle Libreboot.
Re: T400s keyboard on X200s?
T400s keyboard will not physically fit and some keys won't work correctly.
