What SSD would be good with X201?
What SSD would be good with X201?
I want to upgrade my X101 by replacing HDD with SSD.
What specs should I look into?
Is Samsung SSD as in the following link working with my laptop?
Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM)
https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-500GB-In ... 0781Z7Y3S/
Additionally, is there any way to duplicate my current HDD (128GB) to a new SSD (500GB) ? I do not want to reinstall everything again.

That Samsung SSD will work just fine.
I'm against cloning from HDD to SSD, but if you *absolutely must* clone the drive, Clonezilla is the way to go IMO/IME.

Same for against cloning...but personally I've used Acronis True Image with great success.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

I found something interesting on Samsung website, which provides Data Migration Program for their SSDs. I will try it at first.

I believe when you install to an HDD, it does some HDD optimizations that don't work on an SSD. I did a clone and it was much slower than a fresh install and a driver load.lumenite wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:00 amWhat issues would cloning bring about?Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2019 10:02 pm

Hmmm. New wine needs new skin? In spite of time and effort, I will take your advice. Thank you.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Fri Dec 13, 2019 12:01 amI believe when you install to an HDD, it does some HDD optimizations that don't work on an SSD.
