SOLD: ThinkPad X240s Prototype w/ Docking Connector $199, Overclocked ThinkPad X200 $99
SOLD: ThinkPad X240s Prototype w/ Docking Connector $199, Overclocked ThinkPad X200 $99
For sale is a very rare prototype ThinkPad X240s with a 1.2-2.4ghz Haswell ULV Eng. Sample i7 (4m l3 cache) cpu and a special docking connector on its back just like an X240.
There are four damages on the case, two on the top case and two on the bottom case, you can refer to the photo (already fixed using rubber tapes). Buyers should except a poor condition except the screen assembly. The touchpad has no color on it unlike clunkpad installed on retail **40 machines. The BIOS states itself as a ThinkPad Edge which is not true haha. Most ports of this machine should be functional but I have no wwan cards to test the 2nd m.2 slot and external VGA monitors to test the VGA port. Two internal batteries are provided with the machine with a wear down around 10%. A backlit keyboard is provided with the machine. Under Windows 7 and 10 the sleep function of this machine is not working, and the WLAN card is forced to be turned off (and can't be turned again unless a restart) if you hibernate the machine. Under Hackintosh with an EFI I grabbed from another forum the sleep works well but the dsdt needs to be patched so I decided to move back to Windows. The trackpoint is also not working; I can't test if its a problem of the motherboard or the keyboard, so the only internal pointing device is the clunkpad. As for its docking abilities I've tested it with a 40A1 Pro Dock and it's functional (video ports are not tested). The fan is forced to Level 64 on start due to the fact that this machine has a very early version of EC and/or BIOS, tpfancontrol is installed with the machine for a noise reduction.
Be prepared of MANY hardware bugs if you want to buy this, not suggested if you want to use it as a daily driver but a dual core Haswell cpu can still do the job after all. The photos will be attached soon.
Specs: 1.2g-2.4g Intel DualCore HSW-ULT i7 Eng Sample, 120G Micron SSD, 4G Samsung Memory

Just found another X200 in my locker. It has an overclocked P8600 (@3.0ghz), 4G Memory and 64g SSD. No crack and damage on the case for this machine but it's not in a mint condition.
I ship from Beijing, China and the additional shipping cost should be around 30 USD. Feel free to DM me anytime to ask questions about the machines.
No warrant is provided other than DOAs
FOR SAFETY I'll clean the case, keyboard and touchpad using 75% alcohol tissue before packaging it.

If that were an X240s prototype, it would not have a docking connector.
That's why I think yours is a standard X240 prototype.
I have such a real X240s prototype without docking connector/opening, and with 2 internal batteries.
Mine has an i7-4500U CPU (1.8/3.0GHz), which is not sold on any other X240 or X240s (they use i7-4600U).
It has an interesting MTM: TYPE 1234-567, both as a sticker on the motherboard and in the BIOS.
And its S/N (starting with PF) is not in the (standard) Lenovo parts-lookup database.

Even on standard X240s mobos they do have unsoldered docking connectors, and I believe this machine is a X240s because it doesn't have an external battery slot and it's thinner than a X240RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:49 amIf that were an X240s prototype, it would not have a docking connector.

And you're right many Lenovo ThinkPad prototypes that I've seen in other forums have weird SNs like your 1234567 and 2222222 (for this X240s) unlike the IBM era haha

Re: FS: ThinkPad X240s Prototype w/ Docking Connector $199, Overclocked ThinkPad X200 $99
The only physical difference between the (standard) X240 and X240s motherboards is the presence or absence of the docking connector.
I have modified an X240s (bottom lid) so it could take an external battery. https://imgur.com/a/QSpmF

There are other physical differences. I was talking about motherboard differences...

Sure and you can swap X240(s) - X250(s) mobos using a bottom cover that fits.

Any pics of the X200? How much would you want for it?

PM me and I'll send you a link for the pics, and as for the price I'll say $99 since it has a SSD.unmotivateddiacritic wrote: ↑Sat Apr 25, 2020 12:16 pmAny pics of the X200? How much would you want for it?
