Replacement T510 LCD shows all-white
Hello. Recently the LCD in my T510 died, and I just got done installing a used one from eBay. The original was an AU Optronics part #42T0762. The "new" one is an LG, part #42T0742. It shows nothing but pure white. I was under the impression any T510 LCD would work, regardless of manufacturer. Is this incorrect?

Never mind; found the issue. The LCD cable had come ever so slightly unplugged from the screen upon re-assembly.

Make sure to tape that connector securely like it has done out of the factory.
A disconnect of that connector when the computer is on can be far more devastating than just tearing it up and reseating the connector, since that 10-19V power rail is always powered as long as either the battery or the power supply is connected.

From my quick research of the FRU numbers you put, you have upgraded your old 768p display to a 900p one.goofyGAguy wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 5:33 pm

BTW, this LG-made screen is so much better than the original IMHO.
If that is the case, it is really not surprising as most 15.6" 900p and 1080p panels are considered as premium panels and they typically come with much better contrast ratios, viewing angles, colour reproduction and sometimes even brightness, but perhaps at the cost of a few hundred grams of extra weight and a decrease in battery life. It has been like this ever since widescreen becomes mainstream in business class laptops until like 2014 when the 900p option gets dropped and a 2k option gets added.
This is one of the reasons why my main laptop is always a 15/15.4/15.6" option since only they come with the luxurious high resolution and high contrast ratio premium offerings until like 2014, and I am not going back ever since I owned such premium offerings when I upgraded my T43 to a T43p
