harsh glaring screen T410

[T410]

I have a Windows 7/Linux Mint dual boot on my T410. I just bought a "refurbed" T410 that is in great shape (except), and took my hard drive out of my old one and swapped it into the new one.

Everything works fine but the new monitor screen is harsh and glaring, and just "off", and I can't seem to tame it. I've explained it more fully on the Mint forum

I think I probably got a cheap screen but welcome any suggestions. I can always swap the screen from my old 410 but I would rather keep that as a functional backup for a while.
