T470 NvMe m.2 upgrade

#1 Post by mstar » Thu May 23, 2024 5:27 am

Hello All

I was wondering i was looking to upgrade my 256gb to a 1tb. However most i see are gen4. If i get a gen4 i am sure my laptop is only gen3, so would i be wasting my money or will there be ANY benefit having a gen4 nvme m.2?

I gather the chipset/laptop can only run at gen3 speeds so i assume it will scale down the gen 4 nvme m.2 to those speeds? and not cause me issues such as power issues/read/write issues etc?

As a general note, ensure same specifications in the zoo string of characters, NvME being one.

A manager in Botch Buy sold me the wrong one.
