Does anyone have experience ordering the 15" flexview panels from aliexpress or ebay?
Does anyone have experience ordering the 15" flexview panels from aliexpress or ebay?
I want to get the best screen possible for my T60 (I might put a t61 motherboard in it later, dunno yet) but I can't seem to find a good reliable source for them. I see Hv150ux1-100 listed on sites like Aliexpress or Ebay for $70 CAD or so, but there's zero reviews, no pictures of the screen on, and I don't want to end up with a defective panel, yellowed LCD, or dim CCFL (though I can replace them if necessary, for the price these are going at I don't want to buy something that needs a replacement for a long time). There's also plenty going for $140+ CAD, but these also don't really have any reviews or pictures, and I don't want to get scammed. Shipping also ranges from $25+ CAD to free, limiting my options even more. Does anyone have any reliable sellers they've used? I live in Ontario, so my options are limited. I can't really just buy them until I end up with one that has a good panel either, since they're very rare here.
I also wanted to know - is this the best panel, or is there something better available? (that isn't absurdly rare or has an extreme price)

I've never bought on Aliexpress, but if you buy something on eBay and it's defective or not as described, the probability you'll lose a dispute with a seller is almost, but not quite, zero. I believe you have 45 ays to start a dispute, so no dawdling on putting it in. They'll likely make the seller pay for any return shipping too. If you want extra protection that will give you another avenue to pursue getting your money back I would suggest paying with a credit card if possible. You could post in the Marketplace forum here, where to sellers tend to be more forthright, to see if anyone has an extra screen laying around they're looking to sell.

HV150UX1-100 is regarded as the best UXGA Flexview (AFAIK). There's a QXGA panel but it's basically unobtainable. Most products on Aliexpress don't have many (if any) reviews, especially obscure screens. Your best bet would be to find a seller who has a high amount of total sales and a decently high feedback rating (95%+ if possible). The only 'reputable' Aliexpress screen seller that I know is Kevin trade shop. I recently bought a 12.1" 1400x1050 panel for my X60 from him and got a working panel with some minor issues I fixed, but these issues are specific to the panels I bought. He sells 15.0" UXGA panels as well but he lumps them all together so I would confirm you're getting a HV150UX1-100. He does offer a no-dead-pixel policy which is fantastic, but I don't think there's any guarantee on brightness. Or, you spend a little extra and order from some seller off eBay for better buyer protection. It's all coming from China either way.connect5 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 21, 2024 11:42 amI want to get the best screen possible for my T60 (I might put a t61 motherboard in it later, dunno yet) but I can't seem to find a good reliable source for them. I've tried buying an HV150UX1-100 from Aliexpress and I ended up getting an HV150UX1-101, with seemingly no EDID fix (some have that, according to the info on this forum). The seller didn't really do anything to help me, and the case went nowhere. I ended up swapping the HV150UX1-101 into my T43p, and swapping the T43p's IDTech UXGA into my T60p.
From my experience, I'd say- both on ebay and Aliexpress, the cheaper options will always be from China and it'll always be a gamble. At least on ebay, as ZaZ mentioned, you'll have some protection. There's more reputable sellers but their prices will be higher. Not to mention even if you do get an actual HV150UX1-100 that there might be a flaw with the actual panel, such as a mark or blemish inside the panel itself or dead pixels/lines.

I don't know the international shipping costs to Canada.
But if you really are interested in a brand new and still factory sealed 15" Flexview, I've got a full box of them to sell.
However, they are the latest model HV150UX2-100 with LED illumination instead of the old CCFL. They are far better than any of the Flexviews that were sold originally with the T43p or T60p. You just need to do the LCD cable modification and 2 cables to the inverter. For more info search here in the forum on FrankenPads.

You had me, and I was thinking of messaging you about prices until I got to "You just need to do the LCD cable modification and 2 cables to the inverter."beeblebrox wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2025 2:04 pmI don't know the international shipping costs to Canada.

You just need to perform an appendectomy on yourself using these old medical textbooks and a dull box cutter. It's easy!

I think I still have all the docu for how to modify the LCD cable and even have a few ready-to-use cables somewhere forgotten in my inventory boxes.

Thank you Sir.
I have come accustomed back to the official incandescents. But I appreciate your having them available should i or someone else decide to want the LED mod. It’s worth a lot, don’t undersell yourself.
