What happened to my computer screen?

#1 Post by ding765 » Mon Feb 03, 2025 3:19 pm

Hello everyone, I am from China, my English is not good, so all the following text will be translated by Google Translate. I have an IBM 345C. The last time I used it was around April 2021. Today, I took it out to use it in my free time and found that there were two long strips of bulges on the screen. It feels bumpy when I touch it with my hand, but it does not affect the screen display. Can anyone tell me what's going on? Will it cause damage to the screen? How did this happen?

That is damage.

I do not know why.

I do not know how to repair.

If it bothers, annoys, or is distressing, I recommend replacing it.

typical (yet early stage of) vinegar syndrome, you can have the front polarizing film replaced by 3rd party.
No big deal and a relatively easy fix, but !!please do not do it yourself!!
better to find some guys who provide such service on Xianyu(?) or BiliBili, it should cost you 50~200 RMB.

I checked online and found that my computer screen seems to have a problem called vinegar syndrome, which can be fixed by replacing the polarizing film.

Yes, that's the problem, but the repair cost is not that high, it only costs 20-50 RMB to repair, which is about 6 US dollars. But I really don't want to disassemble the screen, it seems very fragile.

It might be easier to hire a Repair shop with an Expert. You would have to Hire them and Pay for their Time and Labor. They will fix it one way or another.
