X1C Gen 6 Power Supply USB-C Cord Plug Repair

#1 Post by wsalomon » Sat Feb 08, 2025 7:29 pm

I have an X1 Carbon Gen 6 with the usual 65 W USB-C power supply. The plug broke.

It appears to have 2 wires insulated wires - one Red (larger), one Blue (smaller) and a stranded shield. I gather the Red is V, the shield is G, and blue is CC.

Is it possible to get a new plug of some kind (like a 24-pin) and repair this. I assume a 4-pin V, D+, D-, G plug will not work.

Thanks!.

It's probably easier to just get another power supply.
Or how about a travel adapter?
Needs a (replaceable) cable like this.
In either case, look at this magnetic connector for icing on the cake.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
But I actually prefer Murphy's from Cork!
