Restoring a T60 and having some driver issues

#1 Post by splork » Fri Feb 21, 2025 8:43 pm

Restoring a T60 and having some driver issues that I see here are not new to this model but all solutions are innefective or no longer available.

Hard Drive became unusable so replaced and win XP Pro service Pack3 installed. Found lots of drivers and am down to 3 "?" marks in Dev Mgr.
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4227&SUBSYS_1010886
ACPI\ATM1200\4&38462492
ACPI\IBM0068\5&2890D699

I also have "The HDA Audio bus driver is required and not found" issue. Have all suggested downloads.

kb888111xp1en and kb888111xp2en both report that they are below installed version and not needed.
7ka112ww.exe as well as 77a224ww.exe installed separate folders to see if any difference.

I have the original hard drive on usb converter but tried to direct driver install to the installed driver on it but do not have a location if possible at all.

Kinda lost and would appreciate a knowledgable comment on this.

Much appreciated

Welcome to the forum. :)
Please add your location in your user profile, as per the forum rules.

All T60 drivers for WinXP should be archived on our server:
https://thinkpads.com/support/Thinkpad- ... m/T60.html

Note, that with drivers of that generation, if I remember correctly - running the installation package (like 77a224ww) only unpacks it into the folder you chose.
You have to manually go into that folder and run whatever setup program exists there.

8086:4227 seems to be the 3945ABG WiFi. Try this driver: 7kwc50ww
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T16 Gen 3 (21MQ), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
X61 7673-V2V, T60 2007-QPG, T42 2373-F7G, X32 (IPS Screen), A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

Depending on how you value your time, you might benefit from downloading a set of T60 factory restore disks from Archive.org and using those. The factory restore process will install all of the correct drivers for your hardware, including the obscure ones like the Fn-f5 software for turning on and off wifi and bluetooth.

The downside: you'll have to update Windows, uninstall a bunch of extremely outdated 3rd party software, and remove several thinkvantage programs of dubious utility. However, for me, and with the help of tools like legacy update, that's a lot easier than trying to track down and install every last driver manually.

Thanks much for the replies. Got it down to one missing device and the hda audio bus driver yesterday.
With the original hard drive on usb and acting normally I tried booting the original and it went ok. Cloned it and am up with a replacement drive. Have the T60 installation I did saved on another drive. Didn't know I could get a set of T60 factory restore disks. Will keep Archive.org for searching. That would have been great since the audio bus driver seemed otherwise unresolvable, even with the original drive on USB access.

Appreciate the input guys . . .

T60 Restore disk set (8 ISOs total): https://archive.org/details/thinkpad-t60. The last, supplemental disk, is optional.
