One very valid reason not to trust posts/websites like yours, is this unacceptable link [http://6lfd1bizaaaaamj4-gsdj6tokgywiq.....etc./]
you try to shove there down our throats.it is available here from Lenovos site

There's no domain (.com, .co.uk, etc.) at the end, so it can't possibly link to anything. It's useless, but not dangerous.

you mention "Now, the X240s TrackPad and fingerprint scanner"ACPI\VEN_LEN&DEV_0035
ACPI\LEN0035
*LEN0035
Every fortnight you have to uninstall something?when windows decides to install the driver anyway (about every fortnight), you will have to quickly uninstall it (sub 2 minutes).
So, if I have a fingerprint reader, I block this as well? So, if you don’t care or have a fingerprint reader, block this as well:
LEN0035

Code: Select all
*ACPI\VEN_LEN&DEV_0035
ACPI\LEN0035
*LEN0035

There must be more than one version of the x240 palmrest, then, because my x240 clunkpad is not interchangeable with my x250 touchpad. Basically, the x250 touchpad is held on with two screws on one side and a clip(?) on the other. My x240 thunkpad has no visible screws.
Wow! Quite the adventure on that X240s.RealBlackStuff wrote: ↑Wed May 28, 2025 1:37 amI have swapped clunkpads against touchpads on numerous X240 machines, including early prototypes and the rare X240s.
But the last time was in 2019, so forgive me if I don't remember all the dirty details.
Looking through my notes, it was the early ones that did not have the 2 touchpad screw-holes,
whereas the newer ones did have them.
And some needed a bit of "dremeling" as well.
Good description with pictures here: https://diy.mironto.sk/thinkpad-x240-re ... -keyboard/
AFAIk the X240 and X250 keyboard bezels (incl. their touchpads) were straight swaps.

PS: that post was written several years after I did the job (in 2017 or 2018).
