#1 Post by Henrobap » Mon Jun 30, 2025 5:37 pm

Hi, my W500 keep raising hardware errors, what could be a Lenovo ThinkPad compatible in order to swap disk and keep my operating system operable.
Thanks.

That depends on a lot of things. First of all, what OS?

If Windows, unfortunately I don't know. I think it can work, but I'm not sure.

With Linux, it definitely can work, but it depends heavily on what model you swap to and what distro you are using.

Moving your OS hard disk from one machine to another is still very likely to cause some headaches... I would recommend backing up your data and reinstalling on whatever new machine you buy.

Sorry, but I am a bit confused by what you are asking. Are you inquiring to operating systems that run well on the Lenovo ThinkPad W500 laptop? If so, anything between Windows X.P. and Windows 10, inclusive, and possibly beyond ought to do overall all right.
