T440P on LInux Mint 22

Been running my business on this machine for the last two years. It was in a bin full of e-waste along with docking stations, cables, various other things. It had 8GB RAM, Windows 7 on a 500GB 5400RPM HDD so of course I swapped in a 1TB SSD and swapped out the RAM with 16GB. I replaced the battery "just because", and I have to say this thing just holds up to everything I throw at it.

Now I wish I had saved all of them. I went from just wanting a disposable laptop to experiment with various Linux distros and now this thing is in full time service and gives me no trouble at all.

Hi, how are your temps with that CPU? Do you use thermal pad or just good paste?

All I've done to this machine is double the RAM and put in a 2TB SSD and replace the battery.

I think I'll upgrade the screen at some point, but I mainly use the two wide screens for everything.

It runs so well I figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Mint went downhill 18.1 onwards . Still one of the best distro's tho

What keyboard is that? Mechanical?
And what Trackball are you using?

Keyboard is a Keychron C2 with brown switches

Trackball is a Nulea wireless, which is the closest modern approximation of the best mouse ever made which is of course the Microsoft Intellimouse Trackball Explorer which is no longer made.

Mint was sort of "less-than" for a while, but the latest iteration supports the fingerprint reader and has a lot of improvements... and super stable.
