Just got it, this is really the best IBM laptop so far.

Really? Great to hear! I'm looking forward to checking mine out, when it arrives.
My 2668-Q2U has been sitting in a customs warehouse in KY since Sunday.
So, I'm still waiting to take her for a spin.

So, no heat or fan issues?
No dead pixels?
How is that new fast 100 gig HD?
Have you performed any benchmarks?
Are you planning on loading Linux?

Give us impatient geeks some details please ...

how long it took IBM to delivar this system. when did you order it and when you received it.

Most of the time the fan is on, but I don't think there is fan noise problem. Since I did not use t43p before, I did not know how you guys define the so-called "fan noise".
And after one hour's use (surfing the web ), I do not feel heat. I want to test the heat problem when I use the Matlab for computation.
Two con I found so far for the laptop:
1). The screen is very good, but not bright enough.
2) The keyboard is small relative to the 15inch model, I hope the keyboard
can be a little larger for the 15 inch model.

By the way, how can I know the hard drive is 7200rpm?

Flip the laptop you will see a big screw (same side where DVD/CD drive is)
open that screw and pull the drive out. (make sure LCD is OPEN and is about 1 cm far so HDD won't be stuck with LCD casing.

check the HDD and reinsert it and screw it.

Hi,

Better yet, go to control panel -> System -> hardware page -> Device manager -> Disk drives, and take note of the exact brand / model. Then do a goole search or post it here... no need to open up the thinkpad really.

Go to device manager, go to Disk Drives, click on it, it will tell you the number, type that number on google or yahoo search and it will tell you if it is 7200 RPM hard drive or not.

Hi, the number is HTS721010G9AT00, and it is really 7200rpm.
But it seems that such hard-drive is not sold in US currently.

i got my t43p last week and i must say god darn... it beats my r50p in most aspects
