Thinkpad x1 Carbon 3rd gen Build Question

#1 Post by puma » Thu Feb 19, 2015 11:13 am

Anyone else notice that even though some of the screws are tightened on the bottom the panel still has some give?
I am seeing this specifically under the front right palm rest.

Same here. Seems like the screws are too long (or the holes not deep enough) on the right side.

Wondering if I should grind them down a millimeter or something :)

This same issue was driving me insane, so I removed the bottom 2 screws and replaced them with a couple spare ThinkPad screws I had.

Here are the measurements

Length: 3.55mm
Width: 1.88mm

The bottom cover now is solid as a rock.

Smart. I found two, but looks like I have to exchange two more to make it perfect :)
