whats a good mouse for thinkpad use?

i have an mx700 and mx1000, and i love them both (mostly because of the forwar/backward buttons on their side near the thumb).

for my thinkpad though, im leaning towards: http://www.newegg.com/product/product.a ... 6826125026

ive used the corded version of this mouse and its a nice feel. i thought id get the bluetooth one because my thinkpad will have bluetooth and it would be nice to use this without having to plug in the usb dongle every time.

my only beef with it is that it doesnt have the forward/back buttons like logitech mice do. now dont tell me to gett the mx900, i refuse to be a logitech whore and buy every 80$ mouse they've made! (lol)

any suggestions on a bluetooth mouse that has forward/back?

i'm hooked to wireless mouses for desktop use too (using the mx1000).
however, for a laptop, it seems less interesting, since wireless laptop mouses use aa batteries... i prefer my wired logitech mini optical mouse. just the right size and just the right cable length for my thinkpad!

Here is a handheld mouse/trackball that does not require a mouse pad/surface to use. Have you considered something like this?

I just received the IOGear Bluetooth mini mouse:

So far, it seems great. It charges via a mini-USB cable (but isn't a USB device). Uses two NiMH AAA batteries (included), and has a real on-off switch for putting it away. The slim size fits nicely in a small travel pocket.

It has no problem pairing with the T43 internal Bluetooth.

I have other wireless mice, but this one is nice for travel because it has no dongle hanging out the USB port waiting to get snapped off.

If I was using it full-time on a desktop, I might want something larger with more buttons, like the MX700.

yeah i saw that mouse in some listings and didnt give it much thought.

bigwarpguy, blek, trackballs, i just hate them (thank you though for the suggestion).

ill have to go and see if i can feel this one at all ground loop.

im still thinking about the kensington mouse, or the mini version of the kensington mouse. ive felt them, and they are good stuff.

too bad the USB ports are on the left side of the computer...not a very logical placement as most users are right handed....

that mouse is way to big imho. go with a MINI BT mouse for a laptop, but be prepared to pay 40-50$ for a nice one.

Thats the best spot for it acually. If your right handed, and most are, the mouse sits just to the right of the LT and the cord(sp) goes behind and to the rear/reft of the LT.
If you use a dock, and many especially with the TP, Trust me..you don't want those obstructed by the Dock.

I've been looking for the same thing and have found nothing. It seems no one makes a reasonable sized BT mouse (not huge like MS or Logitech) but not super small either w/ the two navigation buttons. Seems rediculous to me!

If you find something post it up, I've been looking all over. The best I've seen is the Logitech V270, but it doesn't have the side buttons...

I'm personally a Logitech fan (though hate how they seem to be dropping Mac support).

Lucky you. I'm hooked on mice that have the forward and back buttons on different side (so I press back with my thumb and forward with my pinky). Unfortunately, most serious manufacturers have dropped this design (Logitech's last model with this feature was the MX310, I presume), so finding cool mice with this feature becomes harder and harder.
