Manufacturer of 42T0324? (15" T60 SXGA+ FlexView LCD)

#1 Post by Johan » Thu Jun 19, 2008 7:05 am

I would very much like to find out who is the manufacturer (Samsung? LG-Phillips? BOE Hydis?) of a 15" T60 SXGA+ FlexView/IPS LCD, which I know is in a certain 2007-QPG. If doing a "Parts Lookup" for this T60 - via the Warranty Lookup page - then no "Mfg. part" with "Description" = "LCD" is given, but the following is displayed:
Parts shipped with your system
Type: 2007 [change]
Serial #: L39V... [change]

Mfg part # FRU part # Description Serviceable?
<snip>
42T0324 ... .... YES
<snip>
As is seen, no FRU is given for this part, and also no "Description"?! However, upon Googling it is evident that the 42T0324 is indeed the LCD panel, but I have simply no idea of who is the manufacturer? What is more strange is that some sellers of the 42T0324 claim that this is an XGA LCD?? The 42T0324 mfg. P/N is not listed in 15 inch LCD service parts - ThinkPad T60, T60p (...2007...), only mentioning the two SXGA+ LCD FRU's from LG-Phillips (13N7078) and BOE Hydis (13N7196).

Unfortunately, I do not have access to the above-mentioned T60 right now, so although it is in principle possible to "extract" this information through the tools mentioned by ryengineer and Troels in the thread Another IPS question, I am unable to that. Therefore: Would anybody (anybody?!) be able to say who this 42T0324 is manufactured by??

Reason for asking is that I am looking for helping someone with buying a brand-new 15" SXGA+ FlexView/IPS T60 (which are still available here in Europe!), and I would like - if possible - a panel made by the same manufacturer as the one I already know (the 42T0324), and not the least as important: I would like to avoid - if possible! - getting one of those which were informed to exhibit some amount of "sparkling", as e.g. discussed in the threads T60 flexview display sparkling and Disappointing 15" Flexview screen and flexview and eye strain.

Thanks in advance for any help to solve this mystery?!

Hi,
According to what Gaphic2 received, it must be the LG (LP150E05-A2) :

:)
If this is a guarantee that it doesn't sparkle, i have no idea, but i think it was only apparent with some of the very early core duo T60s with 15" SXGA+. The 2007-QPG is a newer laptop.

Thanks a lot for your quick reply, Troels - and why do I really bother posting any question about LCD's, when I know that you are around, and that you are indeed my TOP-professional, national-international display expert-supporter? And, yes, I know what you will ask me now, so I reply before being asked: Every time when I read your posts here on the forum, it just makes me so proud of being Danish! :-)

Well, I already saw the post by gaphic2, but I was a bit confused, because in the misc. Lenovo "psref's" - e.g. Personal Systems Reference - Version 332 - December 2007 - all the 15" T60p's I know of are/were UXGA's... so reading about gaphic2's post (T60p w/SXGA+?!) made me slightly confused? Anyway, what you just shared made me Google a bit further, and at this page the LP150E05-A2 is said to be IBM FRU 42T0325-06 for a T60, which gives good meaning knowing that the Mfg. P/N is 42T0324. The final answer was found --> here - see the image most towards the bottom. Case solved!

Thanks, again, Troels - as always, your help is much appreciated! :bow:
